About the Language
Chinyanja, also known as Chichewa or Nyanja, is a Bantu language spoken natively by over 11 million people in southern Africa. It is an official language of Malawi and Zambia, and is also spoken in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Chinyanja means "language of the lake," referring to the Lake Malawi area, where it originated.
