About the Language
Chinese is spoken by more people than any other language, over one-fifth of the world's population. The language encompasses an array of dialects used in various provinces of China, as well as in Chinese emigrant communities. One of the principal dialects is Cantonese, which is an official language of Hong Kong and Macau, and is spoken around the world. It originated in the Canton (Guangzhou) area of southern China.
