The Course Used by Diplomats
Learn Portuguese the proven way -- just like a diplomat!
You'll be amazed at how easy it is to achieve fluency in Portuguese using this proven audio/text method. This introductory course is designed for those who already have a good command of Spanish and want to learn Portuguese. Discover how Portuguese and Spanish are similar, and how they differ from each other.
Spanish and Portuguese long ago diverged from a common ancestor and became two distinct languages, but they are still similar enough to permit a language learning practice using the "conversion method" developed by the Foreign Service Institute. This approach will help you alter familiar Spanish patterns to attain fluency in Portuguese.

About the Language
Portuguese is the sixth most spoken language in the world. Of its 250 million speakers, 190 million are Brazilians. Thus, Brazilian Portuguese is more widely used than European Portuguese. The differences between them are comparable to those between British and American English, as such languages have evolved separately on either side of the Atlantic over the last few centuries.
Enhanced PDF Features
The Audio Forum® Difference: Audio Forum® PDF books are enhanced with links to MP3 audio files. Speaker icons in the text allow you to hear the corresponding audio. The MP3 files can also be loaded onto your MP3-compatible CD player or digital media player. The PDF books may be read (without enhanced features) on tablet computers. A 10-inch or larger screen is recommended.
