About the author(s):
Debbie Cline currently teaches a primary multi-age class in a northwest suburb of Chicago. During her fifteen years of teaching she has had the opportunity to teach in several school districts throughout Illinois. Debbie has taught at the junior high and elementary levels with a focus at the primary grades. She holds a Master’s Degree in Reading from Western Illinois University. As a presenter, Debbie has conducted workshops for various groups in her school district. When she is not teaching, Debbie enjoys bicycling, hiking, and reading. She enjoys traveling with her family. Debbie and her husband take an active role in the lives of their two teenage children.
Lynne Backer is an experienced educator in a northwest suburb of Chicago, where she currently enjoys teaching first grade. She has worked with elementary age students as well as both teaching and speaking to adult groups. She holds a Master’s Degree in Supervision and Curriculum. Lynne and her husband Bob live out in the country with their Norwegian Elkhounds and their cat, Wicket. They enjoy observing various wildlife and admiring the beautiful scenery. They also enjoy traveling whenever possible. Lynne has also channeled her creativity into the writing of children’s literature. Feeling that dogs and children are a natural combination, she uses her Norwegian Elkhounds as a central theme for her books.
Mary Lu Muoletto, Editor and Author, has recently completed 36 years in public education. She obtained a Ph.B. from DePaul University, Chicago, an M.E. from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and has completed advanced courses at National Louis University and University of Illinois. She has taught students in the primary and intermediate grades and in the school district’s gifted program. She has served as curriculum supervisor working with teachers at the K-8 level, a director of gifted education, coordinator of state and federal programs, and assistant principal. She is an Associate Instructor at National Louis University.
Mary Lu has served as a chairperson for the State Board of Education Advisory Council in Gifted Education (Springfield, Ill.). She is a member of the University of Illinois College of Education Alumni Association (President, 1982-85 Champaign; Loyalty Award recipient), the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Council for Exceptional Children, the National Council for Social Studies, Kiwanis, and Who’s Who in the World. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading and photography.
